Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Global Learning and Partnerships, the Assistant Director of Global Learning has broad planning and operational responsibility for all global learning events, including Global Enterprise Network events, UN/NGO Pathways events, Global Learning Outreach events, Study Abroad events, Visiting Fulbright Series events, professional development events, and faculty orientation events.

The Assistant Director of Global Learning has primary responsibility for managing global learning outreach programs, including the Global Enterprise Network, the Global Student Ambassador Program, and programs organized in partnership with community organizations. Additionally, the incumbent plans and coordinates itineraries for both large and small inbound international groups.

The Assistant Director of Global Learning has primary responsibility for all office websites, including departmental websites, Global Education Gateway, Global Issues Gateway, and the Global Partnerships database. The incumbent also coordinates all marketing efforts for the office.

The Assistant Director of Global Learning is responsible for developing operational budgets and marketing strategies for each event or program, and sound fiscal management of income and expenditures for them, as well as for coordinating protocol, room reservations, transportation, facilities, media services, public safety, publicity, food services, and housing for each event as required.

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.

2. Fluency in a second language (in addition to English) strongly preferred.

3. Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.

4. Excellent written and oral communication skills and customer service skills.

5. Knowledge and understanding of event planning within an academic institution.

6. Demonstrated success as a personnel and fiscal manager.

7. Ability to interact positively with students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, foreign visitors, and the community.

8. Creativity, initiative, strong problem solving skills.

9. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to compile data accurately, prioritize, coordinate several events simultaneously, and meet deadlines.

10. Proficiency with computer systems for word processing, spreadsheet, data management and web applications. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Working knowledge of website content management software.

11. Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.

12. Willingness and ability to work nonstandard hours, including some evening and weekend hours, as needed.

13. Valid driver’s license and accessibility to transportation for travel to the Florham Campus and off-site events.

14. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
