Job Summary:

The Academic Support Services Assistant works with the Director of Academic Support Services & English Language Studies Team to provide a holistic approach to identifying and addressing students’ academic support needs at the FDU-Vancouver campus. The Academic Support Services Assistant provides academic advising for students in the Pre-University Program (PUP) and works with other support staff to develop and maintain core academic support services for students at the FDU-Vancouver campus.

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or enrollment in a Master’s degree program preferred.

2. Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience including academic English tutoring for undergraduate and graduate students.

3. Proven ability to create, deliver and facilitate academic skills workshops.

4. Advanced skills in both spoken and written academic English, with experience in researching and writing academic papers.

5. Excellent communication skills and an ability to interact effectively with students, faculty and administrators across departments.

6. A high level of proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

7. A strong work ethic, a calm demeanour, attention to detail and strong organizational ability.

8. Experience in the post-secondary education system and familiarity with its policies and procedures is preferred.

9. Canadian residency or work permit required.

10. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check.
