Job Summary:

Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology – specialization in vertebrate anatomy, physiology, exercise science, exercise physiology, or kinesiology – Fairleigh Dickinson University Metropolitan Campus.

The School of Natural Sciences of University College on the Metropolitan Campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) in Teaneck and Hackensack, NJ, invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor of biology position to teach anatomy and physiology lecture and laboratory to Biology majors and Nursing students, and anatomy and physiology-associated courses such as neuroscience, kinesiology, exercise physiology and pathology.

Required Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. in Anatomy or Physiology or its related discipline in hand at the time of appointment and Post-doctoral work is preferred; applicants are sought who have expertise in at least one of the following areas: integrative/applied physiology; vertebrate anatomy/evolution; exercise science; exercise physiology or kinesiology.
• Candidates with active ongoing research in their area of specialization.
• Demonstrates excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.

Requirements of the position:
• Faculty are expected to teach 24 credit hours/academic year of graduate-level courses in their area of expertise and undergraduate courses and laboratories including anatomy, physiology, neurosciences for biology majors and anatomy and physiology for nursing students.
• Develop collaboration with faculty within the department.
• Pursue a scholarly research agenda focusing on human subjects that leads to peer-reviewed publications.
• Advise students in their major and minor.
• Participate in curricular revisions and development
• Conduct learning outcomes assessment
• Perform services at the departmental, school, campus and university levels
