Job Summary:

The Administrative Assistant, FDU-Vancouver, provides advanced and diversified secretarial and administrative support services on a rotational or as needed basis to the departments of the Business Manager, Admissions, Enrollment Services, Learning Resources, Directors, and Program Coordinators.

Responsibilities include word processing and administrative support and responding to inquiries and applications concerning undergraduate and graduate admissions.

Required Qualifications:

1. A minimum of 2 years successful administrative experience in office and budget management, preferably in an academic environment, including clerical accounting and bookkeeping functions. Ability to perform analysis of budgetary data.

2. Strong math and computation skills.

3. Proficiency in the use of computerized systems for word processing, spreadsheet, data management, e-mail, internet research, and other applications. High degree of competence with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Familiarity with Datatel a plus. Ability to quickly learn new applications as required.

4. Excellent oral and written communication skills and outstanding interpersonal skills.

5. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

6. Familiarity with a college environment, as a student or as an employee, in order to have an understanding of the processes performed in an Admissions/ Registrar’s office.

7. Proficiency in a second language an asset.

8. Must be available to work overtime and non-standard hours as required, i.e., evenings, weekends, during peak periods throughout the year.

9. Canadian residency or work permit required.

10. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check.
